Yesterday the eyes of the whole world were focused on the Apples Big Launch. The new CEO Tim Cook presented the New iPhone 4S, Siri, New iPod Nano, iOS 5 and gave away its 8 GB iPhone 3G.
iPhone 4S looks almost exactly the same as its predecessor iPhone 4 but is much faster according to Apple Vice President Phil Schiller, it runs “up to seven times faster”, has a better camera and displays more vibrant colours and thanks to Siri seems to understand human speech and can read messages, search Wikipedia, make a calendar appointment, set a reminder, search Google Maps and more. The phone will cost $199 for a 16 GB model and $299 for a 32 GB model. It will be available for pre-order on Oct. 7 and start shipping Oct. 14
iOS 5 is available for free on October 12, two days before the iPhone 4S comes out. Apple announced new features for the updated version of iOS in June. You can expect a new notification centre, BBM-like messaging, a folder for magazine and newspaper app subscriptions, a new to-do list app and Twitter integration.
The New iPod Nano has been enhanced with a new watch-like features and bigger app icons. It comes with 16 different clock faces including the famous Mickey Mouse. Additionally it tracks run, steps taken and calories burned without any additional sensors or devices.
Last but not least Apple decided to give away its 8 GB iPhone 3G. It will come with a new two-year contract and the iPhone 4 will cost $99 with the same contract. Both will be available at these prices on October 14 when the New iPhone 4S becomes available.
My question is will you upgrade to either the New iPhone 4S or iPod Nano? Share your thoughts with us in comments below this post.
